| The property is located on the outskirts of a small village at the foot
of a mountain range in a lush valley in the province of Burgos in a big
self-contained garden with beautiful views onto the village and the highest
peaks in the region. The village is a mixture of traditional peasant structures
and some newer buildings with a strong rustic flavour and totally unspoilt
by modern developments. The property is entered through a big iron gate
up a drive to the house giving the property the air of a landed estate.
The house has a terrace you can sit out on which you can bathe in the sun
in or sit in the shade. Alternatively you can sit out in the front garden
where you can feast your eyes on the panoramic view or bask in the peace
of the orchard in the back garden. The property is located in the province
of Burgos which is three-quarters of an hour away by car. The area is steeped
in history and we are 20 km away from the pilgrim's route to Santiago de
Compostela This is rugged walking country. There are fabulous views for
miles around from the peaks which can be reached by car or on foot. The
area is rich in fauna and flora and there are lakes nearby which you can
swim in. Though there are no shops in the village, there are two bars, one
of which has a mini store upstairs (for emergencies). But normal shopping
is to be done in the nearest market town some 5km away. This place also
has a swimming centre and a sports complex ideal for children. The village
is very well placed for visiting both the northern coast and the centre
of Spain. It is 1 1/2 hours away from the beach and 2 1/2 hours away from
Madrid. All around there are plenty of exciting and picturesque places to
visit as well as places of great historical interest.

The house is fully equipped to sleep 6 people. It has three double bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a large living room cum dining room. The table in the dining room opens up to seat up to 8 people.There is also a garage in which all the garden tools and machines are kept. Clean linen is provided but not towelling. There is central heating which is oil-fuelled (the oil tank is behind the house). It is very easy to use and very efective. It also heats the water. There is also a stoneware fireplace and a stock of wood which is kept in a shack in the back garden. The living room has a music centre and a television with video on which you can receive local programmes. Everything has been recently refurbished. All the furniture is completely new. | |
| The house is easy to keep clean with stone floors and rugs in the bedrooms. For the reason the house stays cool even if it is hot outside. From May through to October, it is sunny most of the time but because it is a mountain area, it is refreshing in the evening. Therefore, it is lovely to sit out either to eat or have a drink and appreciate the wonderful sunsets and the intense starlight nights. There is a barbacue grill in the garage which guests are free to use. There are two chaise-longues to sit out on under a parasol plus other garden chairs. Finally, there is a person who come in to water the flowers and cut the grass on the front lawn once a week. For an extra 100 Euros a week, you can rent our jeep, which, though it is not much good for longer journeys is ideal excursions into the mountains. |
